Now in their third year, the 2026 World Webtoon Awards will accept online votes from readers worldwide from September 17 to October 19.

The Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) revealed the 20 finalists for the 2026 World Webtoon Awards on September 20. These awards are designed to highlight exceptional work in the webtoon medium, now in their third year. This remarkable event not only recognizes innovative storytelling but also seeks to strengthen ties with global audiences. The 20 finalists were selected from a significant pool of submissions that illustrates the depth of talent in the webtoon community.
Voting for the 2026 finalists is currently open and will continue until October 19. Readers from around the world can cast their votes for their favorite webtoons. Each vote from readers will contribute to 50% of the total score, alongside the evaluations of a panel of judges, who will count for the other 50%. This dual scoring system emphasizes both community engagement and expert opinion, making the awards highly representative of both creator and fan perspectives.
This year, the awards received an impressive 7,318 nominations from 4,038 unique fans worldwide, showcasing the vibrant community of webtoon enthusiasts. Notably, the introduction of cash prizes marks a significant enhancement to the awards this year. The grand prize winner will receive 15 million won (approximately $10,700), while the Judges' Award winner will earn 13 million won (about $9,400). Main award winners can look forward to receiving 10 million won (approximately $7,200) each. These financial incentives are expected to heighten the competition and attract more creators in future editions, encouraging even greater participation from the global webtoon community.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for December 3 at the Starfield Library within COEX Mall in Seoul. This significant event will be a part of the larger World Webtoon Festival, occurring from December 2 to 6. The festival aims to create a lively interaction space for creators and fans, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in the webtoon ecosystem and allowing fans to connect with their favorite creators.
The launch of global voting and the introduction of cash prizes signify a major acknowledgment of the webtoon medium and its evolving community. As global interest in webtoons continues to expand, these awards provide a platform for creators to gain visibility and engage their dedicated fans. The participation of over 4,000 nominators demonstrates a thriving community interested in supporting their favorite artists, further elevating the profile of webtoons as a unique and vital storytelling form. The awards not only recognize individual talent but also foster a greater appreciation for webtoon culture globally.
