Avantika Unveiled as Face of W Hotels' 'Hotel Tales' Campaign in Toronto
Avantika has been announced as the new face of W Hotels' 'Hotel Tales' campaign, launched during TIFF 2026 in Toronto.
Justin Baldoni will produce Gina Rodriguez's first directorial project, 'House of Guerrero,' a boxing film currently in preproduction.

On September 16, 2026, news broke that Justin Baldoni will produce 'House of Guerrero,' a boxing film directed by his former co-star Gina Rodriguez. This marks Rodriguez's debut in feature direction and comes after Baldoni's recent legal settlement, making it a significant professional shift for both.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Baldoni and Rodriguez, known for their roles as Jane Villanueva and Rafael Solano in the hit series 'Jane the Virgin,' will collaborate once more in this creative venture. Notably, this project represents Baldoni's first major role after a legal issue that stemmed from his work on the movie 'It Ends With Us' with Blake Lively.
Rodriguez, who has a personal connection to the world of boxing, emphasized the emotional nature of her directorial debut. "Directing this film feels like the beginning of a new chapter in a story I’ve been carrying with me my entire life," she stated. Her passion for boxing plays a crucial role in bringing authenticity to the narrative, which centers on a young boxer attempting to make a comeback.
The screenplay for 'House of Guerrero' comes from Bernardo Cubría, who has previously worked on the series 'Acapulco.' The film is currently in preproduction; however, no cast members have been announced yet. Other producers involved include Scott Budnick and Ameet Shukla, alongside Molly Breeskin for Rodriguez's I Can And I Will Productions and Baldoni with Andrew Calof for Wayfarer Studios.
Financing for the film is coming from a mix of entities, including Wayfarer Studios, 1Community, HarbourView Media Group, and Clare LoCicero, with support from Three Point Capital in the form of tax credit financing.
Clayton J. Barber ('Creed III') and Eric Brown ('John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum') are responsible for the fight choreography, adding another layer of expertise to the project, which aims to resonate with audiences through its themes of perseverance and cultural representation.
Rodriguez's dedication to bringing Latino narratives to the forefront is particularly timely as the industry increasingly recognizes the need for diverse voices. She has expressed a sense of responsibility to portray Latino characters and experiences thoughtfully. "At a moment when Latino stories, Latino families, and Latino heroes deserve to be seen and celebrated more than ever, I feel an enormous responsibility to tell this story with honesty, heart, and pride,” Rodriguez explained.
Baldoni's remarks reflect a deep respect for Rodriguez's talent, noting that she has a unique ability to tell impactful stories that resonate on a human level. This collaboration could inspire a wave of new projects that also prioritize underrepresented narratives, potentially influencing industry trends.
The announcement of 'House of Guerrero' not only marks an exciting new chapter for both Rodriguez and Baldoni but also highlights a growing trend of Latino representation in film. As production progresses, audiences can anticipate a story that intertwines personal struggle with broader cultural themes, making it a noteworthy addition to mainstream cinema.
